High Rise Installation Procedures
- Remove Safe-T-Strap from box.
- Check Straps for unusual cuts or fraying. Ensure green protective sleeving is firmly attached.
- Once the shear
wall is poured and the forms are being removed, place the looped end of the Safe-T-Strap over a developed re-bar dowel protruding through the top of the shear wall. Safe-T-Straps should be installed six (6) feet back from the perimeter of the building.
- Once Safe-T-Strap is installed, the forming of the floor continues and Safe-T-Strap is firmly anchored by pouring concrete over the protective sleeve.
- Once the fly forms
or conventional forming is removed, Safe-T-Strap will be hanging from the corner of the sheer wall and the ceiling - six feet back from the perimeter.
- Horizontal
lifelines or static lines may be attached to two opposite embedded Safe-T-Straps. Two workers may then attatch their lifelines to the horizontal lifeline, providing maximum mobility and fall protection. Some jurisdictions may require an engineer to certify a static line is acceptable for various work practices.
- When the fall hazard has been eliminated from the perimeter, i.e., the exterior wall has been erected, the Safe-T-Strap is removed by cutting it off at the
base.
- Where shear walls or columns do not exist, Safe-T-Straps can be installed by inserting an 8" piece of rebar through the straps looped end, then inserting that end 4”
into the poured concrete.
